Hi, I'm Julia

I'm Julia, a Brazilian girl with a serious sweet tooth. I came to California to study, met my husband Kyle, and a few years later my sister-in-law convinced us that Florida was the best place on earth. She was right. We've called Jacksonville home for 10 years now.
Baking has always been our thing. Kyle and I love hosting and feeding our friends, and in the kitchen we complete each other. What's Cookie-ing is where my two passions meet: graphic design and cookies. Every sign, tag and menu is one I designed myself.
I'm picky, in the best way. Most of my cookies start with brown butter, I use quality chocolate, I'm particular about my eggs, and I test every recipe until it feels perfect. Big, chewy and a little gooey. My favorite? Anything with marshmallow. S'mores, always.
At home you'll find Kyle, our very sassy kid and Avocado, our lovable Frenchie, usually waiting for a crumb to fall.
I hope every cookie brings you a little joy, and feels worth every penny.

What's Cookie-ing · Jacksonville, Florida · Effective October 3, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information What's Cookie-ing ("we," "us," or "our") collects from visitors and customers of whatscookieing.com (the "Site"), how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It applies to anyone who browses the Site, places an order, sends a party request, or contacts us. It should be read alongside our Terms of Service.
1. Information we collect
- Order and request info: name, email address, phone number, cookie selections, how you want to receive your order, your delivery address (for deliveries), and party details (date, sizes, flavors, notes), collected when you place an order or send a party request.
- Payment info: we do not collect card numbers. You pay in cash at markets and fairs, or with Cash App, Venmo or Zelle. Those apps process your payment under their own terms; we only see what they show us, such as your name, the amount and the payment note.
- Communications: messages you send us through the contact form, email, or Instagram/Facebook, including allergy or dietary questions.
- Basic technical data: like most websites, our hosting provider (Netlify) automatically records basic technical information such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, for security and to keep the Site running. The Site also loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when a page loads.
We do not knowingly collect more than we need to take, prepare, and hand off your order. We don't ask for or store government ID numbers, and we don't collect sensitive health information beyond what you choose to tell us about an allergy so we can advise you.
2. How we use your information
- To process, confirm and fulfill your online or party order, including matching your payment and arranging pickup or delivery.
- To communicate with you about an order, such as confirmations, payment reminders, pickup details or changes.
- To answer questions, including allergy or ingredient questions, and provide customer support.
- To comply with tax, food-safety and other recordkeeping obligations that apply to a Florida cottage food operation.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not use your order history to set individualized prices.
3. How we share your information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers who help us run the Site: Netlify (website hosting and form handling; your form submissions are stored there and emailed to us) and Google (our Gmail inbox, Google Fonts, the Google Sheet that holds our menu, and the Google Maps shown on the Find Us page). These providers process information on our behalf under their own privacy and security commitments.
- Payment apps you choose to use (Cash App, Venmo, Zelle), which handle your payment directly.
- Legal requirements: if required to comply with a subpoena, court order or similar legal process, or to protect the rights, property or safety of What's Cookie-ing, our customers or others.
4. Cookies and analytics
The Site does not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or analytics tools. The maps on the Find Us page are provided by Google Maps, which may set its own cookies. Links to Instagram, Facebook, Google Maps, Google Reviews, Venmo and Cash App take you to those services, which have their own cookies and policies.
5. Data retention
We keep order and contact information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill orders, respond to questions, and meet our recordkeeping and tax obligations, generally no longer than a few years after your last order, unless you ask us to delete it sooner (see Section 6) or the law requires us to keep it longer.
6. Your choices and rights
Florida does not currently have a broad consumer privacy law that applies to a business the size of What's Cookie-ing, but we're happy to honor reasonable requests about your own information:
- Access or correction: ask what information we have about you, or ask us to correct it.
- Deletion: ask us to delete your information once we no longer need it for an open order or a legal or tax obligation.
To make a request, contact us using the details in Section 10.
7. Children's privacy
The Site is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Data security
The Site uses a secure connection (HTTPS), and we rely on Netlify's and Google's security to protect information in transit and at rest. We limit access to order and contact information to what's needed to run What's Cookie-ing. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security, but we never collect card numbers and we take reasonable steps to protect what you share with us.
9. Third-party links
The Site links to our Instagram and Facebook pages and to other third-party sites. This Policy doesn't cover their privacy practices, so please review their policies separately.
10. Contact us
Questions about this Policy, or requests about your information, can be sent to whatscookieing.jax@gmail.com, or through Instagram (@whatscookie_ing) or Facebook (What's Cookie-ing).
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Policy as our tools or practices change. The effective date at the top will show the latest update. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the revised Policy.
Terms of Service
Terms of Service
What's Cookie-ing · Jacksonville, Florida · Effective October 3, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of whatscookieing.com (the "Site") and any purchase or order you make from us. The Site is operated by Julia Birkfeld, doing business as What's Cookie-ing ("What's Cookie-ing," "we," "us," or "our"), a home-based cottage food operation in Jacksonville, Florida. By browsing the Site, buying from us, or placing an order, you ("you" or "customer") agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site or place an order.
1. Cottage food operation disclosure
What's Cookie-ing operates as a cottage food operation under Section 500.80, Florida Statutes. Our products are made in a home kitchen that is not licensed or inspected by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) or any local health department. Every product label includes the disclosure required by Florida law: "Made in a cottage food operation that is not subject to Florida's food safety regulations." By buying from What's Cookie-ing, you acknowledge this disclosure and that our products are prepared in a home kitchen rather than a commercially licensed facility.
Cottage food sales in Florida must be made directly to the end consumer and cannot be resold by the purchaser, shipped across state lines, or sold wholesale to retailers or restaurants.
2. Products and availability
- What's Cookie-ing sells jumbo, bakery-style cookies in rotating flavors, along with other treats such as cake pops. Flavors, prices and availability are shown on the Menu page and may change from week to week without notice.
- We sell online and at local markets and fairs. We bake in small batches, so flavors can sell out.
- We may limit quantities per customer, and change or discontinue a flavor if an ingredient is unavailable.
- Photos on the Site are representative. Actual appearance may vary from batch to batch, as is normal for small-batch, handmade baked goods.
3. Ordering, pricing and payment
- At markets and fairs: pay at our table in cash or with Cash App, Venmo or Zelle.
- Online orders: cookies come in boxes of 4 ($20) or 6 ($30), and cake pops can be added when available. Orders must be placed at least 2 days before your Friday or Saturday pickup or delivery date. After you order, you'll see an order number. Your order is confirmed once we receive full payment with that order number in the payment note. Unpaid orders are cancelled at noon the day before the pickup or delivery date.
- Delivery: available within about 15 miles of North Jacksonville (32218) for a $5 fee. We'll confirm your address before delivering, and may decline a delivery outside our area.
- Party and event orders: requests sent through the Site are not orders until we reply with a quote and you confirm it. Minimum quantities and at least 2 weeks' notice apply, as shown on the Parties & Events page.
- Prices are in U.S. dollars and may change for future weeks at any time.
4. Pickup and delivery
- Online orders can be picked up from our porch in North Jacksonville (no-contact), picked up at one of our markets or fairs, or delivered locally. We do not ship.
- For porch pickup and delivery, we'll text you the address or delivery window after you pay. If you can't make it, contact us as soon as possible so we can try to arrange another time.
- Orders not picked up during the agreed time, and not rescheduled in advance, may be forfeited without refund, since the product is perishable and baked specifically for your order.
- Party order pickup or delivery details are arranged individually when you confirm your order.
5. Cancellations and changes
Please review your order carefully before submitting it. You can ask to change or cancel an online order until noon the day before your pickup or delivery date by contacting us. Once baking has begun, orders generally cannot be changed or cancelled. See Section 6 for our return and refund policy.
6. Returns and refunds
All sales are final. Due to the perishable and homemade nature of our products, which are prepared in a cottage food operation under Florida's Cottage Food Law (Section 500.80, Florida Statutes), we do not accept returns, exchanges or refunds on any food item once it has been purchased and has left our possession.
This policy exists for food safety reasons: cottage food products are made in a home kitchen that is not licensed or inspected by FDACS or the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). Once a product leaves our hands, we cannot guarantee how it has been stored or handled, so we can't accept it back.
If you have a concern about the quality or condition of an item at the time of pickup, please contact us right away so we can address it.
7. Allergens and food safety disclaimer
All What's Cookie-ing products are prepared in a home kitchen that also handles wheat/gluten, eggs, milk/dairy, tree nuts, peanuts and soy, and may occasionally handle other common allergens depending on the flavor being baked. We do not operate an allergen-free facility, and cross-contact is possible even for flavors that don't list a given allergen.
Ingredient lists are provided on product labels and on the Menu page (tap any cookie). Please review them before buying if you or anyone you're buying for has a food allergy, sensitivity or dietary restriction.
If you have a severe allergy, contact us before buying so we can share what we know about a flavor's ingredients and preparation. We cannot guarantee any product is free of a particular allergen or safe for a specific medical condition.
By buying from us, you acknowledge these risks and agree that What's Cookie-ing is not liable for allergic reactions or other adverse effects related to ingredients disclosed on the product label or Menu page.
8. Eligibility

11. Third-party services
The Site is hosted on Netlify, and payments are made through third-party apps such as Cash App, Venmo and Zelle. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies. 12. Disclaimer of warranties
The Site and all products are provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, What's Cookie-ing disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, except where such a disclaimer is not permitted by Florida law.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, What's Cookie-ing's total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the Site or purchase of a product, whatever the legal theory, is limited to the amount you paid for the purchase giving rise to the claim. What's Cookie-ing is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Florida law.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless What's Cookie-ing and Julia Birkfeld from any claim, loss or expense (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from your misuse of the Site, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Site will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Duval County, Florida, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as our ordering system, products or policies change. The effective date at the top will show the latest update. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the revised Terms.
17. Severability
